A collie who was so terrified of water that he had to be cleaned using dry shampoo for two months has finally had his first proper bath - and even enjoyed it!

Six-year-old tricolour border collie Duke was taken in by the RSPCA’s Block Fen Animal Centre, in Cambridgeshire, in February.

Stormy captured the hearts of dog-lovers across the country - but one lady just couldn’t get him out of her mind…

A 19-year-old terrier - the oldest the RSPCA has ever taken in to rehome - has found his paw-fect match with a retired widow from Coventry.

Stormy was rescued by RSPCA inspector Herchy Boal earlier this month after he was spotted collapsed in a snowy garden in temperatures as low as -3C.

The animal welfare charity received an anonymous call on 2 March and inspector Boal was extremely concerned for the terrier - who is 92 in dog years!

It can take longer to rehome an older animal in RSPCA care but the animal welfare charity is highlighting the benefits of adopting one of our Golden Oldies.

Figures show it takes about two weeks to rehome young dogs and cats (under six months old), but it takes more than THREE times longer to rehome dogs and more than TWICE as long to rehome cats aged over three.
