Yesterday (Saturday) more than 900 people and their four legged friends spent the day wallowing in mud. Together, they crawled, jumped, climbed, and waded through mud-drenched obstacles at Windsor Great Park. Unique, in being the only 2.5km and 5km obstacle runs in the UK in which participants can compete alongside their dog, as well as offering a lot of good clean(!) fun, the courses allowed entrants to raise much needed money for Battersea.

Today, Battersea Ambassador David Gandy, and actresses Rosie Marcel and Joanna Scanlan, have taken on the Muddy Dog Challenge to help raise money for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Over 900 participants and their furry friends also took part in the fundraising event at Windsor Great Park, where they crawled, jumped, climbed, and waded through mud-drenched obstacles.

Supported by LV=, it is the UK’s first ever course where participants can compete in 2.5km and 5km obstacle runs alongside their dog.

Nupsala has an amazing treatment for dogs, and other animals. In this video you can see Sorrel, a German Pointer who goes from hobbling painfully, to running. It's incredible to see it, and it gives hope to all those whose dog is affected by this disease.

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home takes in hundreds of dogs and cats each year, but staff were taken aback when an unusually long-eared arrival came through their doors.
The Mini Lop rabbit arrived at Battersea’s London centre on Monday May 1, after a kind member of the public found her on the roadside not far from the shelter.
Battersea didn’t have a hutch to hand, but luckily member of staff Amy Baird did. Amy, who works as a lost and found assistant at Battersea, offered to give the rabbit a home- naming her Lotus.

Finding a forever home for any dog can be a challenge – but some are more of a challenge than others, through no fault of their own. One such dog is Anatolian Shepherd, Bam Bam. Already a very large dog at only a year old, charming Bam Bam is still growing, and needs special home with lots of love – and lots of space!

Bam Bam is currently at theRSPCA’s Sheffield Animal Centre, having been taken in by the Hull branch at just nine weeks of age. He was rehomed not long after that, but found himself back in rescue when his new owner’s circumstances changed.

The RSPCA, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, Yorkshire Water and a local construction company worked together for SIX HOURS to free a terrier stuck in an underground pipe in South Yorkshire this week.

RSPCA inspector Joanne Hartley was called to an area off Wombwell Lane, in Barnsley, in the early hours of Thursday morning (20 April) by the worried owner of the 16-month-old Patterdale terrier.

Inspector Hartley said: “Jet had run into the drain pipe while out on a walk with his owner on Wednesday evening (19 April).

Sometimes, the larger the dog, the larger the task of finding them a new home. This is the case with Loki, a Northern Inuit cross who has found himself in Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s care through no fault of his own. Covered in thick, grey fur, with striking blue eyes, and standing at over a metre tall, Loki looks as if he might have just wandered off the set of Game of Thrones.

Unbelievably, in a recent poll, over 40% of people consider it to be acceptable to leave a dog in a hot car, the RSPCA has revealed. The charity commissioned a survey of more than 8,000 people, and were shocked to find that only 55% of people expressed the opinion that it’s never acceptable to leave a dog in a hot car.

When a dog digs in the garden they often get into trouble with their owner, but in Wiltshire recently a dog got into trouble of a more serious nature. The dog in question, a terrier, dug so enthusiastically that he got entangled in the neighbouring house’s foundations.

The woman who was looking after the dog at the time realised that help was needed, and hurriedly contacted the RSPCA and outlined the problem. Without delay, Inspector Stephanie Daly arrived on the scene with a crew from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service to set to work to free the dog.
