The RSPCA today (Tuesday May 28) launches its annual competition for budding young snappers to showcase their best images of animals.

The Young Photographer Awards 2013 (YPA13) welcomes all kinds of pictures from cheeky portraits of family pets to imaginative photos of wildlife and even close-ups of insects in a mix of categories open to young people under 19.

The competition is sponsored by Warners Midlands, supported by Olympus and Natures Images, and judged by a mix of photography professionals including presenter and wildlife expert Chris Packham.

Bruce and Ben Fogle are delighted to announce the launch of a quirky competition for all dog and cat lovers in a bid to gather new friends for two important charities  - Dogs Trust and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Pet people are being asked to send photos of creatively nibbled, torn, shredded, scratched, chewed, deconstructed or simply destuffed dog and cat toys to www.londonvetclinic.co.uk where they will be judged

Now obviously I know that I live with Britain's smartest dog, but for some reason the folk at The Company of Animals aren't aware of that and are launching a competition to find the smartest dog. It may be that you also think you live with a pretty smart dog, so if you fancy entering the competition, the details are below. I've seen the Nina Ottosson games, and would love to see how Buddy and Star cope with them, so maybe we'll bump into you at the pet shop.
