Battersea celebrates phenomenal Surrey couple who have volunteered to help over 75 homeless animals

This week is Volunteers’ Week and Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is celebrating two of its dedicated volunteers from Walton on Thames who have made a real difference to the charity.

Animal lovers Sally Curren and her partner John Sullivan have provided a temporary home and loving care to over 75 homeless animals from Battersea’s Old Windsor centre since 2009.

Battersea’s longest serving volunteer clocks up 30 years support

Laurence Ackland Smith is Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s longest serving volunteer, and has recently celebrated 30 years of supporting the charity. To mark the achievement, Battersea staff and volunteers got together at the Home to throw Laurence a celebratory party.

Samantha Barks is joining Battersea in appealing for Volunteer dog fosters

British actress and singer Samantha Barks, best known for the role of Éponine in Les Misérables is joining Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in appealing for more foster carers to help offer a temporary home to the charity’s most vulnerable dogs.

The actress is a frequent visitor to the world-famous charity and has fostered Battersea dogs in need of a little TLC and time away from kennels.
