More than 1,600 reports of abandoned animals to RSPCA since lockdown began
The RSPCA has received more than 1,600 reports of abandoned animals across England & Wales since lockdown began - that’s 40 a day.

The charity has released the figures as part of its emergency appeal, launched to keep its rescue teams out on the road during the Coronavirus crisis and continuing to rescue animals most in need.

Not just a one-trick pony! RSPCA rescue dog does 2.6 challenge to encourage animal lovers to take part

Tod the rescue dog showed the world his repertoire of 26 tricks - including ringing a bell - to encourage animal lovers to take part in the 2.6 challenge and raise much-needed funds for the animal welfare charity.

The week-long challenge kicked off yesterday (Sunday 26 April) when the London Marathon would have held its 40th annual event and is asking participants to do a challenge around the number 2.6 or 26.

Dog tied up in church with heartbreaking letter from former owner

‘My dog means the world to me and I don’t know what else to do… I hope he can be found a new home he deserves’

A dog was found tied up inside a Blackpool church with a heartbreaking note from his former owner that said: ‘I love you and I’m so so so sorry’.

RSPCA inspector Will Lamping was called to Sacred Heart Church, Talbot Road, after a brindle and white Staffie cross was found tied up next to the altar with a hand-written note.

Two puppies dumped with their dead siblings will spend their first Christmas in forever homes

Two Cockapoo puppies who were found dumped in a cage and huddled asleep on top of the bodies of their dead siblings have had their lives turned around after being rescued.

Bramble and Crumble were just six-weeks-old when they were found abandoned in a cage behind an old sofa and surrounded by rubble, a wheelbarrow and discarded ladders, in a remote barn in Gorefield, Cambridgeshire.

Animal lovers joined together for an evening of festive cheer all to suppawt the RSPCA’s work helping animals in need over winter

TV presenter Matt Johnson led a chorus of special guests at a Christmas concert in London in aid of the RSPCA.

More than 250 people gathered together at St Andrews Church, Holborn, on Tuesday (3 December) for an evening of festive fun and cheer to raise money for the animal welfare charity.

Unusual breed rescue dogs have been overlooked for six months.

Rescue staff are hoping for a home for a Presa Canaria and a Sharpei who have been in rescue kennels for more than six months.

With the festive season just around the corner, two Shropshire dogs, who have spent more than half a year in kennels, are hoping to land themselves loving new homes in time for Christmas.

Striking Bagheera (pictured top) is a seven-year-old Presa Canaria and handsome Alan (pictured below) is a five-year-old male Shar-Pei crossbreed.
