A spaniel who was rehomed by a rescue centre as a puppy in 2007 has sadly found herself back in their care 14 years later, after one of her adopters died.

Tandie came into the RSPCA Cornwall branch’s care this summer after one of her owners sadly passed away and her family couldn’t take care of her.

Why isn't Bilbo back on the beach?

Bilbo is a gorgeous Newfoundland dog who is currently caught in the middle of a mess through no fault of his own. Bilbo’s story first hit the headlines in 2008 when he was banned from the beach on which he was performing life guard duties. Up until the ban, Bilbo had been assisting his owner and then head lifeguard, Steve Jamieson, helping keep bathers safe at Sennen Cove beach in Cornwall. However the beach is a no-go area for dogs in the daytime, and since Bilbo is not classed as a working dog, he found himself falling foul of the ban.

Bilbo's back - yay!

Do you remember the post I did about Bilbo the Newfoundland who had been banned by health and safety officials from working on a beach in Cornwall helping to keep people safe in the water? Well there was a petition to have him reinstated, and it worked. 1,500 people have signed the petition and Bilbo's back. You can read about it on the BBC site, but basically people power has put Bilbo back on the beach.

Bilbo the Newfoundland is owned by an RNLI lifeguard, and has taken an active role in ensuring swimmers' well being in Cornwall as a beach rescue dog, this is as well as visiting schools to educate children about water safety, and attending charity events.
