Shar Pei

Shar-pei looking for experienced home after 300 days at RSPCA centre

A beautiful dog brought into an RSPCA centre is looking for his fur-ever home after recovering from being underweight and extremely timid.

Bruce, a four-year-old shar-pei, has put on nearly 10 kg since coming to RSPCA Millbrook Animal Centre in Surrey in October last year. He was emaciated and had skin lesions, but is now a much happier, healthy dog (see before and after photos, left).

Home for Christmas: happy ending after Teddy attacked and left with broken ribs

Teddy, a four-year-old Shar Pei, who was thrown over a fence and left with multiple untreated rib fractures for several weeks after being assaulted by his owner, has been given the best Christmas present he could wish for - a loving new home.

Staff at the RSPCA’s Preston and District branch rehoming centre have spent 14 months rehabilitating Teddy, who was so scared of his former owner he used to shake in fear and defecate in the house.

Is there hope of a home for rescue dogs Bagheera and Alan in time for Christmas?

Unusual breed rescue dogs have been overlooked for six months.

Rescue staff are hoping for a home for a Presa Canaria and a Sharpei who have been in rescue kennels for more than six months.

With the festive season just around the corner, two Shropshire dogs, who have spent more than half a year in kennels, are hoping to land themselves loving new homes in time for Christmas.

Striking Bagheera (pictured top) is a seven-year-old Presa Canaria and handsome Alan (pictured below) is a five-year-old male Shar-Pei crossbreed.

Alan needs a forever home

Could Alan be your doggy soulmate?

Alan

Alan is a well-behaved boy who likes to please, and walks nicely on the lead, but sadly, his loving personality doesn’t always shine through when people visit him at the animal centre. Staff have worked with Alan and get to see this affectionate boy’s true colours, and are hoping the right person will come along and give him a chance. Alan has responded really well to training and is a very intelligent dog who has been enjoying having a go at agility (video available) - he particularly loves to have his bum scratched and will happily stand for as long as you’ll fuss him!
