A former Battersea dog has been busy throughout lockdown helping to hand-rear a tiny kitten who had been left homeless.

Duke, 10, arrived at Battersea in 2016 when he was found as a stray in Guildford. The unusual-looking Beagle cross soon caught the eye of Laura Cushway, Battersea’s Animal Partnerships Manager.

Left tied up and petrified on the side of a busy road near White Hart Lane Stadium in North London, Sophie the Cane Corso’s luck turned, when she was found by a veterinary nurse working nearby.

After spending some time in the local warden’s kennels, she found her way into Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Manchester Muddy Dog Challenge raises almost £100K for Battersea

Nearly 700 animal lovers and their dogs came together at Ashley Hall in Altrincham earlier this month (20 October) to take part in Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s Muddy Dog Challenge, proudly supported by LV=. The event has raised almost £100,000 so far, which will go towards the vital care of the animals that come into the charity.

Battersea is holding cinema nights in October

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has announced a brand-new fundraising event to be held at their London Centre on 24 and 25 October. Battersea Lates will give ticketholders a unique opportunity to enter the grounds after dark, meet some very special dogs, and enjoy pizza beneath the stars, before cosying up in Battersea’s atmospheric surroundings to watch a classic animal-themed film.
