Puppy and kitten who think they’re sisters find a home

A puppy and kitten that were hand-reared at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home Old Windsor and so close they thought they were sisters have found a home together thanks to a family from Essex.

Jack Russell puppy Buttons and her feline friend Kitty became famous around the world for their close bond. Battersea’s Old Windsor centre, where the pair were cared for, was flooded with calls from people as far afield as America wishing to offer the duo a loving new home.

RSPCA Cymru has published its first ever report into the welfare of dogs in Wales

Dog Welfare Indicators Wales brings together a collection of indicators that provide a unique insight into the welfare of the nation’s favourite pet.

Highlights from the report include:

• 84% of the public in Wales support proposals to legislate on
dangerous dogs and irresponsible owners.
• 82% of the public in Wales support an annual compulsory dog
registration scheme.
• More than 10,000 dogs were dealt with by local authorities in Wales,
costing over two million pounds to local tax payers.
• In 2011 the RSPCA achieved 99 convictions for causing unnecessary

Designer Jenny Packham launches appeal to find a family for lonely Husky

Top fashion designer Jenny Packham is urging dog-lovers to consider adopting a homeless dog from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, who recently modelled one of Packham’s exclusive designs.

Siberian Husky Colleen turned heads in a beautiful Jenny Packham dog coat that had been designed to raise funds for Battersea, but the four year old beauty is still waiting to find a home after spending 145 days in the charity’s care.

Photo - Dogs Trust urge Dog Owners to control their dogs around livestock

There are few past times more enjoyable for dog owners than a walk with their dog in the beautiful British countryside. However Dogs Trust would like to remind dog owners to be cautious and keep their dogs under close control to ensure they do not worry livestock or stray onto neighbouring land. It is a criminal offence to allow a dog to chase or attack livestock on agricultural land and the dog only needs to be in a field with sheep to legally constitute an offence of worrying.
