Sit, Stay, Heal
Having fought cancer on her patients’ behalf for over two decades, Renee suddenly found herself in a much more personal fight. In this interview she shares her joy at being able to give dogs more time with their family, and helping them defy the odds. Then she received her own cancer diagnosis, and so did her beloved dog, and the fight was personal.

Dr Renee Alsarraf completed a medical oncology residency in New York City at The Animal Medical Center., and has created chemotherapy and radiation services for animals in Kansas City and in New Jersey. She is an active proponent of the human-animal bond. She lives in Montclair, NJ, and is married to a veterinary ophthalmologist. They have one son whom she cherishes, as well as Dusty, her beloved, bossy, six-year-old female Boxer.
RAD Assistance Dogs
Rad Assistance Dogs is there for people who suffer from mental health disability impairment. RAD trains people to train their own dog as an assistance dog. The dogs mitigate a range of symptoms and conditions, making life, and everyday tasks many of us take for granted, comfortable and sometimes even possible.
In this inerview, Maryrose Terry and Heather Adlam talk about how the charity helps people, the behaviours the dogs carry out, the ongoing fight to ensure assistance dogs have access to public places, and how you can help support the charity.
