Fostering dogs fleeing domestic abuse

In this podcast, host Julie interviews a lady who for several years fostered dogs whose owners were fleeing domestic abuse. Volunteering via a charity, the lady (whose anonymity we are maintaining) opened her home and heart to dogs in need of a safe, secure - and secret - place to stay.

She reveals what it was like to have a usually stressed and scared dog arrive, and allow them the time and space to decompress, relax and become themselves. Many of the dogs arrived terrified of men, but given time developed a special bond with her husband.

Now, having stopped fostering, the lady is hoping to adopt a dog of her own, and experience the joy of dog ownership once more. She had her own adored dog, Chester, before, and started fostering dogs in the aftermath of his death.
