Ministry of Defence worker takes on Kilt Walk to raise funds for charity supporting police dogs

A Scottish kennel assistant took on the renowned Kilt Walk to raise money for a charity that supports retired police dogs in Scotland.

Eilidh Paterson, 34, from Kilcreggan, completed the 22.6-mile route at the Glasgow Kilt Walk on Sunday (24 April).

Eilidh, kennel manager for the Ministry of Defence Police Dog section, DM Glen Douglas, has so far raised £580 for the Thin Blue Paw Foundation, a national charity that supports, protects and celebrates working and retired police dogs.

A busy cocker spaniel who spent six years using her inquisitive nature and super nose to sniff out cash, drugs and firearms has gone on to continue helping people in her retirement; after helping her adopter’s mental health.

Cocker spaniel Milly was just 10-months-old when she joined Cheshire Police in April 2008 as a sniffer dog. The busy little dog was gifted to the police by her family who struggled to cope with her energy after having a baby.

Police dog who helped get his handler back on her feet has to learn to walk again after being injured in crash

When police dog handler Louise McMullen was bed-ridden for six months and told she’d never work again she thought her career was over. But two years later she was back on the beat with her loyal dog Wolfie by her side.

And, just a few years later, she’d be by his side when he had to learn to walk again after being injured in a dramatic police chase crash.
