The hit ITV series Paul O’ Grady: For The Love Of Dogs, which followed the lives of animals at the world renowned rescue charity Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has been shortlisted for a prestigious Bafta Award.
The Bafta nomination for the seven part series follows National Television Award success in January for Best Factual Entertainment, and is further recognition of the show’s national appeal.
Following the highs and lows, laughter and tears at the UK’s best known animal rescue charity, Paul O'Grady: For The Love Of Dogs took millions of viewers behind the scenes at Battersea when it was broadcast last Autumn. Around 8 million viewers caught the series each week live or on catch up and enjoyed the heart-warming stories of Battersea dogs getting a second chance in life after being abandoned or given up by owners who could no longer care for them.
Claire Horton, Battersea Chief Executive said: “To be nominated for a Bafta is an incredible honour and we're so thrilled that millions of people fell in love with the ITV series. Paul O'Grady is the perfect fit for Battersea and his love for all our dogs shone through in every episode."
ITV are currently filming a second series of Paul O'Grady: For The Love of Dogs at Battersea for broadcast later this year. The nominations for the Bafta features category are: Bank Of Dave, Grand Designs, The Great British Bake Off and Paul O'Grady: For The Love of Dogs and the winners will be announced at a televised ceremony on Sunday 12 May 2013.
