Beagle

Westminster Dog of the Year Finalists

There was a worthy winner in Westminster today, as Rocky, a seven-year-old Labrador belonging to Batley and Spen Labour MP Tracy Brabin, was crowned 2017 Westminster Dog of the Year. Leading the opposition in second place was Bonnie, a Beagel owned by Rebecca Pow MP for Taunton Deane, with a place in the trophy cabinet awarded to Ted, a Cockapoo owned by Maria Miller MP for Basingstoke in third.

Bea the Beagle

Bea the Beagle was found wandering the streets of Ballymena as a heavily pregnant stray; she recently gave birth to seven delightful puppies. The stress became too much for poor Bea, who fell ill - staff were concerned for the pups and considered hand rearing them. However, Bea, ever the devoted mum looked after them dutifully throughout her illness and made a full recovery.

Cute, but I bet it's annoying to have to deal with!

Take care,

Of course the first thing that springs to mind is "Why?" What is the point of a dog that glows in the dark? (Apart from the fact you probably wouldn't lose him on a moonlight walk.) Why on earth tinker with a dog's DNA to make him glow? Now the team

Just a dog?

Today I've been editing an interview I did with Tim and Cathy Glass. Tim is the author of Just This Side of Heaven, a book which tells his and Cathy's and their Beagles' story. It's a beautiful book that depicts life - and death -with a dog. Or rather dogs, because both Cathy and Tim love Beagles. In fact the breed brought them together, but you'll have to read the book or listen to the interview to find out!
