Matted, filthy dog rescued from ‘hellish’ conditions is now prize-winning pooch!

RSPCA officers rescued 22 matted, filthy dogs from a home earlier this year

When you look into Hobbit’s bright eyes and stroke her glossy, fluffy coat you’d think she’d always lived the life of Riley.

But last year the poor two-year-old was living in disgusting conditions, in her own filth with 21 other dogs.

Hobbit and her friends were rescued from a home on the border of Hampshire and Wiltshire by RSPCA officers in March after complaints* to the charity about the dogs and the conditions they were living in.

Horrible conditions

“The conditions were absolutely hellish. I can’t begin to describe how awful the smell was.”

Hobbit has a good life now

In June, Anna and Mark Abram from Chippenham, Wiltshire, rehomed her. Anna said: “Hobbit is so adorable and loving, she has learned so much in the few months we have had her."

Lola Rose

Lola Rose is such a sweetie she’s been named twice! She’s an eight-year-old Staffie who’s at South Yorkshire Animal Centre. She loves snoozing on the sofa and lots of fuss and attention. She’s looking for a quiet home with no other animals although she could live with a family. She walks nicely on the lead but is nervous about being left home alone so will need some further training. For more information about Lola Rose call 01302 719790.

Lola 3

Who could resist Staffie Lola’s incredible Dumbo ears!? This one-year-old is an excitable but friendly dog who needs help with some basic training. She was rescued by the RSPCA as her owners could not properly feed her. She’s always on the go and is quite bouncy so would be best in an adult-only home with no other pets. She’s at Macclesfield, South East Cheshire & Buxton branch. Call 01246 273358 for more details.

Lola 2

Caucasian shepherd Lola is a little bigger than her Staffie friend! This gentle giant is two and is at Millbrook Animal Centre, in Surrey. She was found as a stray and can be quite aloof but has strong bonds with those she gets to know. She fun-loving and loves to play. She’d like to be the only dog in her new home and would benefit from further socialisation around dogs and people. For more information please call 0300 123 0740.
