Loving Edie
Most of us, when we get a dog are hoping for something – companionship, support, an exercise partner, an agility or flyball dog – whatever our dreams, we envisage how life will be. This can be especially true if we’ve already enjoyed life with a dog already and are hoping to find the same joy again, but, sometimes things don’t pan out that way, though it can still be life enhancing, as Meredith May teaches us in her book Loving Edie.
When Meredith and her wife Jenn adopt Edie, a sweet golden retriever puppy, they find themselves becoming late-bloomer parents, doting over her as if she were flesh and blood. But it isn’t long after Edie joins the family that the problems begin.
Although Edie is not their first dog, she’s the first puppy they’ve raised together and she’s an unusually anxious dog.
