Carolyn Menteith and Tails.com

With more dogs around, who may be poorly socialised from lower-than-average exposure to social situations, reduced training, and vet visits there may be new problems we have to face with our four-legged friends.

Superb behaviourist Carolyn Menteith discusses the finding of research by Tails.com into the rise of antisocial behaviour among our dogs. You can keep up to date with Caroyn on Facebook.

Most dogs are - exactly as we are - selectively social. We have our friends and our families, people we want to interact with with, have fun with, talk to, go to the pub with, but that's actually quite a small group. We don't want to have everybody in the supermarket bouncing up to us, wanting to hug us, and stroke our hair.

We got her used to the sound of the bike without her on it, we got her used to being in the carrier off of the bike, so she could get used to lying in it - how you would teach a dog to be comfortable in a crate, she used it as her comfy place. it was all positive reinforcement.
