Rancho Luna Lobos

Fernando and Dana Ramirez operate Rancho Luna Lobos, a dog rescue and rehabilitation located in Park City, UT. They are also a non-profit, called Sledding for Hope. Fernando races professionally, and is currently 12th in the world with his team. Everything is done with the love of the dogs as a priority - they are dogs first, and sled dogs second.

Fernando and Dana are dog listeners, rather than dog whisperers; they believe every dog has a voice, and they help them find that voice. The couple use dog sledding as therapy for dogs, but if a dog prefers to hang out on the ranch, or become a family dog, they help them fulfil that purpose.

You can find out more about the wonderful Rancho Luna Lobos at their website and on Instagram and on Facebook.

We set personal goals for every single one of our dogs. We care for just under 80 dogs and every single dog has a name, a purpose and a voice here. We're always trying to figure out where they want to be.

Canine Partners

Fiona Airey, from Kent, was diagnosed with a genetic condition, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, when she was in her 30s. She became less independent due to her condition, no longer able to leave the house without someone with her to help her feel safe.

Life for the Fiona blossomed when she was partnered with assistance dog Verlin, provided by national assistance dog charity Canine Partners, in September 2014. For Fiona, having Verlin means she has been able to be a successful deputy Head Teacher and she has just accepted her new role as a Head Teacher at another primary school.

Stay up to date with Canine Partners via their website and on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

I drop so many things because my fingers aren't very good. He'll pick all of those things up - it can be from the smallest of drawing pins, to a large object like a walking stick - and bring it to me.
