Jon Garstang & Positive Pet Project
Jon Garstang is an animal shelter expert who is spearheading the first ever national initiative in Greece to teach children the value of relationships with animals. He is also an accomplished singer-songwriter.
He grew up in Somerset, and studied theatre and played music professionally in his early twenties. In 2005, he started working with dogs, founding his own dog care business in 2008 in London. In 2011 Jon went to Zambia to help a struggling shelter and really found his calling during that trip. Moving to Rhodes, Greece, in 2016 Jon started specialising in helping shelter dogs.
He has written a booklet and education programme for Greek schools and is now partnering with the Greek ministry of education and the PFPO.gr (the main animal welfare organisation for Greece). Walter Stoffel & Lance A Spirit Unbroken
Walter Stoffel describes himself as having survived the rescue of Lance, a border Collie with issues. In this interview he tells their story with honesty and humour. Walter has authored a book about his experiences, called Lance: A Spirit Unbroken. At the heart of their story is the inspiring love and deep bond that can exist between dog and human.
Going to any lengths to help the dog he'd come to love, Walter and his wife even moved house to accommodate Lance's needs. Initially, Lance belonged to someone else, but gradually it became clear that the situation was untenable and completely wrong for Lance.
However, freeing Lance from his first home was far from the end of the story - he took Walter on an adventure, teaching him many lessons along the way. Walter's love for his troubled dog shines through all their misadventures.
