Hyper-intensive farming is not environmentally friendly, so if we can make choices which mean that you are feeding animals which have led a more natural life, then often that has less of an environmental impact.

The Particulars of Peter

When Kelly Conaboy adopted her dog, Peter, it set her on the path to writing The Particulars of Peter Dance Lessons, DNA Tests, and Other Excuses to Hang Out with My Perfect Dog

The book is described as is an ode to Kelly’s dog, the aforementioned Peter, and is a hilarious journey through the odd corners of obsessive dog ownership – many of us understand that! A hybrid of memoir, reporting, and humor writing, Kelly’s quest to understand Peter manifests itself in conversations with veterinarians, ethicists, ghost hunters, professional dog dancers, and at least one Bruce Springsteen impersonator.

In this conversation Kelly and Julie explore many aspects of dog ownership, and the journey we embark on to understand our dogs. Find out more about Kelly at her website.

The main thing I hope people get from the book is wanting to have a deeper relationship with their own dog, and seeing their own dog as an individual.
