Maxwell Muir

You can have a dog contained in the yard and you lock the latch, the dog can watch you do that a thousand times, it'll never work it out, you can go away, the dog's safe. A wolf just needs to see you do that once, and you'll go back and it won't be there.
 - Maxwell Muir

As a trainer, behaviourist, writer and broadcaster, Maxwell Muir's passion is to help owners understand their dogs so they can find natural balance in their relationship. He loved dogs from childhood, and since being a small boy, Maxwell also loved wolves. As an adult he has learned all he can about wolves, and in this interview he talks about what wolves mean to him personally, their plight in a modern world, and his hopes for their future.

You can find out more about Maxwell at his Action 4 Dogs website.

Forget wolves and dogs. I think there's more damage being done with linking the two together. Treat them as distant cousins rather than really close relatives.

DogCast Radio News

In the DogCast Radio News, you can hear how TV series Game of Thrones is causing Huskies to be abandoned, the Australian Guide Dog who achieved a record recently, an innovation that's helping tracker dogs locate missing people, the failed police dog who found an unexpected role in life, how the South Korean first dog, adopted by president Moon Jae-in is sending out strong messages, and the Labrador whose wedding breakfast proved to be costly for her owner.

Pudsey

We were greatly saddened by Pudsey's death. Pudsey and owner Ashleigh won TV talent show Britain's Got Talent, and went on to star in a film, pantomimes and to delight crowds around the world with their performances.  So it was a shock to hear that at the relatively young age of 11, Pudsey had passed away after a short battle with leukaemia.

Julie was lucky enough to meet Ashleigh and Pudsey, interview them and watch them perform live. You can hear the interview in episode 149 of DogCast Radio.

We wish Ashleigh all the best as she continues to perform with her other dog Sullivan.
