London-based animal welfare charity, Mayhew, recently held its annual Open Day event on Sunday 13th May and raised an incredible £10,000 on the day.
Mayhew threw a fantastic street party, sponsored by Lily’s Kitchen and ProtectaPet, at their Home in Kensal Green, and opened its doors to visitors for a behind-the-scenes look around the organisation.
The day, which was hosted by loyal Mayhew supporter and KISS FM DJ, Pandora Christie, brought together a mix of stalls, activities, games and a raffle including prizes from Experience Days.
Visitors were treated to a meet and greet session with some of Mayhew’s gorgeous TheraPaws teams including Deborah with her dog Noodle, Peter with his dog Tobi, Katie with her dog Charlie, Jenny with her dog Sam, Marina with her dog Luna and Sheena with her dog Tyi as well as the chance to say hello to some of the cats still waiting for new homes.
Guests also had the chance to have a look around the charity’s Community Vet Clinic and speak with the vets and vet nurses, who were on hand to show work and equipment demonstrations. Throughout the day, entertainment was provided by singer Andreas Liberos and visitors enjoyed the veggie BBQ and cocktails.
Mayhew was also delighted to welcome Hammersmith and Fulham Mayoress, Rosemary Petitt, who attended the event and was given a tour of the Home.
The successful day concluded with a special Happily Rehomed Parade, with many of Mayhew’s more recently adopted dogs taking part such as Lulu, previously known as Luna, who was sold online despite having suspected mange and being underage, Ivy, who was found abandoned with painful eye problems, were also joined by Charlie Primrose, Mongo, Lizzy, Ciara, Trudy, Beanie, Tiffy, Jojo, Betty, Jessie and Pi.
Mayhew’s Open Day attracted over 1,000 visitors and they raised an incredible £10,000 on the day, which will go towards helping more neglected, vulnerable and abandoned animals in need.
Mayhew’s CEO, Caroline Yates, said: “It was a brilliant day and it was lovely to see so many people with their friends and family enjoying the street party and having a look around the Home at all the vital work we do at Mayhew.
“Thank you to everyone who attended and supported Mayhew, we raised an incredible amount of money on the day, which will go towards us helping more animals in need.”
