Petition to ban the exploitative importing of dogs into the UK
The heartbreaking case of the Pomeranian puppy imported into the UK by Molly Mae and Tommy Fury who died days later, touched the heart of dog lover Lucy Parkinson. Lucy started a petition and was amazed at the attention and support it attracted. Now the petition is on the way to 100,000 signatures at which point it will be considered for debate in the UK parliament.
As the petition says, "Plenty of dogs from UK breeders & rescues need homes. Transporting young pups long distances is often stressful, before being sold for ridiculous prices to unsuspecting dog-lovers. Government must adjust current laws, ban this unethical activity on welfare grounds & protect these poor animals ASAP."
You can sign the petition here. And to support the social media campaign use the hash tag #BanPuppyImports You can find Lucy on Twitter here.

DogCast Radio News
In the news, Julie and Jenny have all the dog news stories you might otherwise have missed. There's the Golden Retriever who celebrated a record breaking birthday despite covid 19, and the millionaire who devoted his life and fortune to saving stray dogs from the meat trade.
There are tales of two Labradors - one a Sebian rescue dog who came with a big surprise and the Kansas dog who made a surprising journey when she went missing.
And two dogs who became internet famous for very different reasons. What is your reaction to the dog who was cuddling up to their owner's shoe when they were left home alone? Are they happy or sad? Would you leave them alone again? What's your attitude to dogs tied up outside shops? We don't like it as it put them in danger, and one supermarket security guard took pity on a dog left out in the rain and went to hold an umbrella over them to keep them dry.
Shout out to this @Morrisons security man keeping this good boy dry. He said ‘well you never know how dogs feel about the rain’ pic.twitter.com/B9CPWI7u5Q
