Rehoming centre to host first ever Burns Night
Dogs Trust Shrewsbury is inviting local dog lovers to the centre for its first ever Burns Night. The traditional celebration, in honour of Scottish poet Robert Burns, will be held at the rehoming centre in Roden Lane Farm on Saturday 26th January at 6.30pm. Guests on the night can expect a light Burns supper, the traditional “address to the haggis” and authentic Scottish folk music and dancing, all in aid of for the four-legged friends at the centre.
Dogs Trust Shrewsbury Manager, Louise Campbell, says:
“As a Glasgow native, I am delighted to bring some traditional Scottish fare to Shrewsbury. We are hoping local residents who are dotty about dogs will don their best tartan and join in on a traditional ceilidh to help make this an extra special event for our centre and raise pounds for our hounds.”
Visitors can enjoy a fantastic evening out and a hearty meal of traditional haggis, neaps and tatties with a complementary “wee dram” which, alongside the music from Tern Valley Tinkers, will ensure an authentic Scottish Burns night experience.
One of the dogs currently at the centre supplying the staff with a Scottish flair is a 3 year old female Cairn Terrier Cross, named Haggis. If you think you could give an address to this Haggis, pop into Dogs Trust Shrewsbury, Roden Lane Farm, Telford, Shropshire, TF6 6BP www.dogstrust.org.uk
