Novelist Ron Hevener says, "It's not just about animals."

On the eve of the e-book release of his new novel “High Stakes” author Ron Hevener says, “We have too many laws about animals. We’ve lost our heads.”

In his latest story, Hevener takes on current legislation and sentiments invading the privacy and emotions of animal ownership and the joy of animals in our lives.  Pressed on the matter of animal legislation, Hevener says, “When somebody tells you they’re concerned about animals, ask if they’re just as concerned for the people those animals depend on. After all,” he says, “Pets and livestock don’t buy their own groceries or write the rent check, do they?”

As for the popular term “animal rights” Hevener says, “We just came through an election. Did you see any animals voting? On second thought,” he pauses, “Maybe I should take back that question.”

Hevener’s previous novels include Fate of the Stallion and The Blue Ribbon. His books are available anywhere e-books are sold.
